Road Trip Wednesday- the house next door
Road Trip Wednesday is a ‘Blog Carnival,’ where YAHighway posts a weekly writing- or reading-related question and we answer the prompt on our own blogs.
This Week's Topic:
Which book character would you like most as a next door neighbor?
As you know, I love John Green. But my favorite of his characters was Tiny Cooper. Mostly because I had a friend JUST like Tiny Cooper. BIG GAY AND FAB-U-LOUS.
But I would like to live next to Quentin Jacobsen. I'd be the girl who had the crush on the boy next door who had a crush on the girl who lived on the other side. I could never compete with Margo, and I'd be secretly jealous of her but I would swoon a little if she spoke to me. In other news I want to share my latest fail, because sharing fails are fun. Guess who sent out 10 queries with THE WRONG PHONE NUMBER and I spelled my comp titles wrong. **head desk**
You know when they say, triple check your query? Yeah triple check it by the tenth power.

ahh, sorry about your queries! Luckily, phone number is something you can correct if asked for a full :)
ReplyDeleteAhhhh I HATE discovering typos/misinformation in emails! But I agree with Kaitlin, the phone number can be fixed, and my guess is people will give you credit for knowing the comps even if they weren't spelled perfectly :)
ReplyDeleteWell - try many years of a pretty font for the title, starting the paragraphs half way down the page, using bookman16 font not NTR-12, two page query letters, and always including the first chapter - unless it said something else in the writers marketplace book. Yeah, thinking you know something is always a surprise when you find that you knew the wrong thing- like your real phone number? - Lol So now your having nightmares about the grand agent call and the 96 year old lady who keeps getting them--- "hello----hello -- Bernie? Helloooo? Is this my son? I need you to go pick up my batteries Bernie!"
ReplyDeleteOh no!
ReplyDeleteOh no! At least it wasn't that many. And it's the reason you put other contact info. Lessons learned. :/
ReplyDeletePS - I almost, almost picked Q as my neighbor too. But I chose Tiny. I need a daily dose of him.
Tiny Cooper would be a fab neighbor! And oh no about your queries! :( Sending <3 your way.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hate when things like that happen! But they have your other contact info, and I'm sure your query is well-written enough that those agents knew it was simply an error (which we ALL make) and not a reflection of your writing ability.
ReplyDeleteI love John Green and Tiny Cooper too. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your queries. In all likelihood, the agents will email you *when* they request your manuscript pages and you can fix the mistake.
