I'm breaking up with Winter

Dear Winter,

I thought I made myself clear. I am ending our relationship. It's over. I want to see other seasons.

You are cold, uncaring and a terrible listener.

I need you to pick up your stuff off of my lawn... namely the snow. Stop sending your friends over, stop calling me.

No, no, I don't want to hang out with your buddies Windy or Rain.

Yes, skiing is fun.

No, that's not a reason to keep the relationship going.

Please go away.

Nice, really nice, Winter, way to be mature about it. Thanks a lot, a revenge blizzard.

Winter, you suck.

  3. Hi!
Your probably don't remember me but it's Taylor Throwe. You had me about 3 years ago and you actually have my sister Jessica now. I saw you on the news a while ago for your Be Nice to Stranger's blog. I found it very inspiring. I actually am writing because a weird thing happened to me today. I don't know if you still use this anecdote but when I was at your school you used to tell this story about a kid that submitted Beatles lyrics for his poem or some project. You used to tell us to not be stupid enough to do this. Last year, I met this guy through a mutual friend and we were talking tonight about the middle school we went to. He mentioned how he went to the same school and that his reading teacher busted him for plagiarism. I jokingly said,"Don't tell me you were that guy that submitted Beatles lyrics as his project." He was dumbstruck and told me that he did in fact. Don't worry he's not mad or anything. He actually thinks he's a legend now. I think you made his day. Anyway, I hope you and your family are well and I should tell you that you remain one of my favorite teachers to this day. Keep up the good work! :)
Also, I agree. Winter does suck. It's my birthday tomorrow and I'm planning on shoveling the entire day for the 10-20 inches of snow. I feel your pain. :(

  4. HI Taylor,
That totally cracks me up that he thinks he's a legend now. I had his sister a few years ago in Core and she had heard the story too.
Sometimes we do things that make us legendary, without even knowing it. I hope he's doing well.

I don't know if your sister told you, but I'm starting up be nice to a stranger again but it's called Project Nice. You can check it out here. http://projectnice2.blogspot.com/

I hope high school is going well. You were such a rock star student I'm sure your doing awesome.

Happy birthday to you, it's going to be historic! Your birthday will go down in the record books. That's a promise!

  5. BTW- It totally cracks me up when kids think I don't remember them. I'm old but I'm not that old. I might not recognize you if I saw you, because you guy grow up and change so much, but I totally remember like 98% of you.

  6. Hey, Mrs. Manack! (Spelling? I hope not...) Guess who? Yup, Max Watts. What a surprise. I've been hearing a lot of things about your blog, so I decided to get the link from a friend and check it out. And I have to say, it reminds me of your class so much back in 7th Grade. I'll always have that memory of you taking up the entire period telling us why you hated yogurt while we were supposed to be reading Romeo and Juliet.

And about the Beatles thing: I couldn't help myself, my inner child just exploded. I really don't know why or how I find the appeal in being the voice of what those kids shouldn't be doing in your English class...But hey, it's better than nothing!
